The price of offshore wind has dropped by 50% in two years in the UK. We asked the head of renewables at Scottish Power to explain what’s going on.
The cost of subsidies for new offshore wind farms has halved to £57.50 per megawatt hour (MWh) since the last government auction in 2015. Offshore wind in the UK is now not only cheaper than new nuclear, but is even competitive with gas.
