Heavy rain has caused flash flooding in Muscat, prompting several flood rescues. Flooding also damaged houses in Muttrah after a wadi overflowed. Some people took refuge on the roofs of houses and were later rescued. The floods of water were so strong through the streets that they washed away everything in their path. Other areas of the city also experienced flooding.
For this region, 50 mm of precipitation is very rare. Teams rescued around 30 people who were trapped in their vehicles in flooded areas. Traffic has been disrupted on Sultan Qaboos Street in Ghubhra due to overnight heavy rains. Traffic has been also closed on Amerat- Bausher mountain road.
